Hopefully you have been enjoying some of the mild weather and beautiful days we’ve had lately, quite a switch from last Winter. We certainly received a lifetime quote of snow then, let’s hope this beautiful weather continues. But one thing is certain about our Maryland weather; it is uncertain!
Our Newest Master Masons have been applying their lessons well, getting involved in numerous ways. As in any organization, you only get out of it that which you are willing to invest. They are working on presentations on various aspects of our fine fraternity, to be given in upcoming meetings.
Brethren, we do our best to keep everyone informed about upcoming events via this Communication, voice messages, email and our Facebook page and website. Since this message is written up to 2 months before, I would suggest you make use of the above-mentioned mediums if you are not already. We currently have over 250 members, and I have email addresses for less than 70. if you would like to receive email notifications, send me a message at email@example.com.
We received lots of great ideas from members at our second January meeting, for activities and ways to serve our members. We have created a Corinthian Lodge Helpline for members to call in and receive aid and assistance in areas around your home, with transportation or to let us know when a Brother is ill. Please put this number in your phone directory: 443-377-1687. This is a voice-mail system, so your message will be returned as soon as possible.
We are also looking to partner with the West Towson neighborhood Association for their Easter Egg Hunt. As of press time details had not been worked out; stay tuned! The second Grand Lodge of Maryland Open House will be held statewide on May 5th, from (am to 4PM. We will need volunteers throughout the day, to assist on setup, greeting guests and for cleanup. Please let us know if you are willing to help.
Last year the family of PM Robert Shinnick made a very generous donation to be used for refreshments. In May, we will have the first Annual PM Robert Shinnick Memorial Dinner in his honor.
The first Regional meeting of 2012 was held, and there was lots of news and informative presentations given. Grand Master Ponzillo gave a detailed slideshow presentation on the new video system, which was mixed news. Good news is there were over 1,000 new members to our fraternity last year! Bad news is we had a net loss in membership due to deaths and suspensions for non-payment of dues. Thanks to our loyal members, we had no suspensions last year.
A presentation was also given by representatives of Bonnie Blink. Seems there are many misconceptions regarding eligibility and admissions. At our Open Meeting on April 13th, we will have one of those representatives come and present to us, and answer your questions. If you have ever considered residing at Bonnie Blink, this is a great opportunity to get details.
As I have stated here and in Lodge, it is every Brother’s responsibility to let their family members know in advance their wishes regarding a Masonic Memorial Service. Recently, we had a member eligible to receive his 60 Year Service Award, and when I contacted him to come in to receive it, he was busy with family activities and wished to wait until after the holidays. A few weeks ago we received late notice of his passing, from the Grand Secretary’s office. It’s hard to imagine a 60 year member not wishing to have a service, but his family never contacted us. Again I implore you, please please let your family know your wishes! Have them contact our Secretary as soon as possible, so that we may make proper arrangements. Also let them know where you keep your apron; we can provide one if you no longer have yours.
Brethren, I leave you with wishes for an early Spring, and a very blessed Easter and Passover season.
31 Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished. 32 For He will be delivered to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon. 33 They will scourge Him and kill Him. And the third day he will rise again.
Luke 18: 31-33
14‘So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the LORD throughout your generations. You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance.
